TAA40104 Certificate IV Training and Assessment Case Study: Diverse learning needs

Meredith works for a Workplace Training and Assessment Organisation (or RTO). Its scope includes all levels of the Hospitality Training Package. She has just had a call from the manager of a small niche market catering company who wants to employ two school leavers and would like to know if the RTO could provide a suitable New Apprenticeship pathway that will suit his business.

Dean is a qualified assessor/trainer who runs his own education consultancy. He has been invited to provide a brief for a professional development pathway for a large horticultural business which develops and sells its own seed stock.

A large multinational insurance company has approached the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) wanting advice about how to move into the workplace training and assessment system. They want all of their employees to achieve compliance with Commonwealth legislation and proceed into a clearly defined professional development pathway. They have a strong history of internal training which has been carried out by supervisors and other experienced personnel, some of whom have training and assessment qualifications. Although AILA provides national forums, workshops and conferences on insurance law issues and related matters, it is not an RTO itself, and so doesn’t deliver Training Packages in a workplace training and assessment environment. Nevertheless, it is affiliated with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), which is an RTO, and so the three organisations collaborate to work out the best learning solution.

The training staff of a large chemical enterprise have been customising some competency standards to ensure that their training is carried out according to their needs. They can’t find everything they need in their specific industry Training Package. They have asked for your help.

A regional community education centre wants to offer some training in retail sales skills. They have asked you to provide them with some competency standards that they can use as the basis for their learning program.

You work for a workplace training and assessment organisation and your manager has asked you to work on a project to develop an Advanced Diploma course that could be offered to industry clients as part of a professional development pathway.
